Newcastle are yet again amongst the thick of it at the top of table. Can they push Arsenal and United to the very end or are they Chelsea's main rivals for that third/fourth position?
We're good enough to push inconsistent Man United for second place, as are Chelsea. But we've got no chance of catching the Gunners, they've managed to combine quality with consistency, which makes them almost unbeatable in domestic competition. As for the Champions League, we've both got to keep an eye on Everton as their challenge amazingly show no sign of collapsing.
Even at the so called "twilight" of his footballing years Alan Shearer scares the hell out of us here at Chelsea Mad - how the hell can he be stopped??
The only way to stop Shearer scoring is to cut the supply lines. The teams who do best against us are the ones who force Dyer, Solano etc back into their own half - but even then the ball over the top for Bellamy is a great attacking weapon. It's a cliché but attack really is the best form of defence against Newcastle.
It is probably fair to say that Chelsea have the most widely respected player amongst all fans - (the genius Zola), and Newcastle the most widely respected/loved manager in Sir Bob. Everybody loves Sir Bobby - but did you really expect him to make the impact that he has and how will he inhibit the magic in Zola's boots?
When Sir Bobby arrived I genuinely thought he'd just be a stand in for a couple of seasons to stabilise things after Ruud Gullit's disastrous tenure, but given his track record I really should have known better. What he has achieved in the past couple of seasons and the potential of his 'buy young' transfer policy makes this an even more exciting time than the Keegan era.
Zola is a player I love to watch, apart from against us as he always seems to save his best for us. I'd like to see Aaron Hughes or Titus Bramble man marking him but knowing Sir Bobby it'll be all out attack as normal.
How is Claudio viewed amongst the Newcastle supporters? Do you think he has "bees in his cockpit"? (i.e. crazy).
He's not really a manager who is largely discussed by our lot, which means he' respected without being disliked, unlike Ferguson, Wenger and Houllier. It's generally a pleasure to see Ranieri interviewed on TV because he knows how to win and lose with good grace - he's clearly not as wacky as his media persona, just look at his track record.
Who do you feel will be your key players this weekend? Who should Chelsea really fear?
Kieron Dyer is the man in form and his pace will undoubtedly give the Blues passing midfielders (Lampard and Petit) all the trouble they can handle. Other than that Shearer and Bellamy will provide their normal combined menace of power and pace. Chelsea are good enough not to fear anyone, but the amount of pace right through our team is enough to give most defenders nightmares.
Who will Newcastle fear (if anyone) in the Blue of Chelsea?
Zola and Gudjohnsen are good enough to give any defence nightmares and are both capable of turning a game with a moment of magic. I'm confident we are more than a match all over the pitch for Chelsea, but we'll have to score at least twice to win with Zola and Gujohnsen about!
Are there any injuries/team news we should know about? Is Mr Woodgate likely to make his first appearance?
Laurent Robert is suspended and Jermaine Jenas is out injured, while Nobby Solano, Kieron Dyer and Hugo Viana are all less than 100 per cent fit. Sir Bobby has hinted strongly that Woody will start at the expense of Titus Bramble. With Robert out Olivier Bernard may be asked to play on the left of midfield which would be an obvious area for you to exploit.
Your match prediction?
Difficult to see us losing at the minute, but Chelsea are the only Premiership team we've never beaten with Sir Bobby in charge. I'll go for a 3-1 win though.
