Chelsea threw away £12.6m to get rid of Felipe Luiz Scolari and three coaching staff club figures reveal.
In a statement released today, the club stated that the financial figures include: "... exceptional items of £12.6m related to compensation payments to a first team manager and three coaching staff."
Assuming that Guss Hiddink and Ray Wilkins who took command of the first team following Scolari's sacking are not included in that figure then the Brazilian was wonderfully compensated for his short stint in SW6.
The club also stared that it was effectively debt-free thanks to converting outstanding debt (to Roman Abramovich) into equity.
I'm sure that just means Roman owns the club that he already owns or something like that.
It's probably more than some cosmetic financial contrivance. But it will allow the club to cock a snoot other debt-ridden clubs like Manchester United who owe in the region of £800m and Liverpool not far behind.
It will also allow the club to say that it complies to fit for purpose (financially) regulations that are rumoured to be in the offing.
So is this a good day for the Blues?
Have all the cutbacks required to get to this stage come at the cost of team rebuilding?
