Joe Cole is set for a bumper pay rise, taking his weekly earnings to £60,000.
Reports suggest that Cole, who scored England's vital World Cup goal at the weekend against Wales, will be rewarded for his Chelsea performances by signing a new two-year extension to his current contract.
Cole has two years' remaining on his present deal and Chelsea are looking to tie the midfielder up until 2009.
This will, of course, make Cole a valuable asset, should Chelsea look to offload the mercurial talent at the end of the season.
But Cole has, after a shaky start, proved to taskmaster Mourinho, that he his up to the job - and this deal is just reward for his efforts.
