“Crisis what crisis?,” said a bullish Carlo Ancelotti after he saw his side drop two vital Premier League points to injury-ravaged Everton at Stamford Bridge.
The 3-3 draw was “normal,” said Ancelotti.
Chelsea have not won in four matches and the Italian is not in the mood to press the panic button.
“We deserved to win,” he added.
“We played with intensity and concentration and created chances - we were unlucky.”
I’m not sure what glasses, Ancelotti wears, if any, but they must be rose-tinted.
However he did see the error of those comments when he said; “We did not do well on crosses.”
That’s an understatement - Petr Cech and his back four should be classified as vampires such are their hatred of them.
Ancelotti said: “It was a problem for Cech, that the back four were too deep. We had some problems like this against Aston Villa and we worked on it - now we have to improve.”
Asked if his club is in crisis - he said what crisis?
“We still have the same possibilities to win the title as before - It’s a long race until the end of the season.”
Ancelotti then sent out a veiled plea to his players to continue with his beliefs. Last season the players lost faith in Luis Felipe Scolari’s methods.
A similar run of poor results is occurring, but Ancelotti is a canny man.
He said: “I don’t lose the trust of my players. They gave the maximum today. I don’t think we are in crisis, I want to be objective.”
He’s hoping that the same in-house player rumbles that dethroned King Scolari will be prevented by praising his charges.
Ancelotti then singled out Didier Drogba as a key man to get them through this non-crisis.
“Drogba is very important but we can win without him in January - (when the African players play in the African Cup of Nations)”
