Chelsea could ditch Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou in the January transfer window.
The Chelsea top brass have told Luiz Felipe Scolari that they might have to sell players if he wants to bring any in.
Chelsea are top of the Premier League and are still favourites to scrap through to the next stage of the Champions League.
But their inability to beat any team of note this season puts serious doubts on the club's ambitions of landing the league title and being crowned European champions in May.
Scolari has said that this is the team he inherited from the Mourinho/Grant era and not his side.
Chelsea have many superstars but they are also on colossal wages.
Even so-called fringe players are on a fortune.
It's these players who Scolari would like to ditch but they would not be an attractive proposition for a buyer.
That is why the club could well part ways with Anelka and Kalou in January.
Getting the goal-shy strikers off the payroll is an attractive idea for the club who are looking at their general running costs with a very keen eye.
Arsenal would be in the market for both players - at a cut-price rate, with Kalou the prefered target.
What do you think? Should the pair go, are there other players who should be cleared out as well?
Have your say on the messagboard now.
