I have to say I liked the Demba Ba move to Leicester City story dong the rounds.
That's not to say there is nothing in the piece, although I think we can safely say it's mostly a piece of made-up tosh.
But Ba is a hot commodity and he was relatively a cheap buy from Newcastle - £8m in January.
It's rumoured that there are many people attached to Ba who would benefit financially if the Senegal striker moved out of SW6, so,with that in mind, a transfer in the not too distant future cannot be ruled out. If and when it happens, I doubt the East Midlands will be first in the Sat Nav.
Chelsea are certainly ramping up their search for another top-class striker however and Edison Cavani is now back in the frame for a move to the Bridge from Napoli.
Should that move be completed, then the Argentina hitman will most definitely expect to have a starting berth.
Jose Mourinho is a clever man and knows the strengths of his current strikers, Ba and Fernando Torres.
The questions he will be asking himself is can Cavani play WITH either Ba or Torres?
If Romeu Lukaku is brought back into the fold from his sabbatical at WBA, it would be as a support striker, an impact from the bench playing role. If the Belgium international accepts that, and it will be tough as we head into to World Cup year to de so, then if Cavani come in, either Ba or Torres would have to make way. Neither of those two would accept a bench-warming position.
Mourinho has to determine who is the best fit for Cavani and discuss the loser's position.
Getting rid of Ba would be the business option as he could command the same wages he currently is on from a host of other clubs - thus making him relatively easy to sell, while
Torres's astronomical wages would be out of reach of all but the very, very wealthy and they are few and far between.
Maybe Ba to Leicester City is not so far off the mark after all.
