The sending off of Michael Ballack on Sunday against Liverpool's Mohamed Sissoko has spared a potential midfield fall-out.
Ballack will miss three games for his straight red as a result of stamping on the midfielder in the 50th minute of the 1-0 victory over Liverpool.
As a result Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will have to replace the German captain with either Arjen Robben or Shaun Wright-Phillips. Perhaps Geremi will get the nod this weekend against Fulham.
One man who will be playing is Frank Lampard.
The England midfielder has come under criticism from many parts of the media for his recent performances.
However Mourinho has remained defiant in the face of such criticisms and says that Lampard must play always.
However even the Special One must be contemplating a time when he must leave out the former West Ham star.
But it won't be in the coming weeks - just how lucky is Mourinho?
