Thibaut Courtois had better start looking over his shoulders as Asmir Begovic is looking to dump him out of the Chelsea starting line-up.
That's the view of ex-Chelsea striker Mark Hughes, who is now Stoke City boss and, who is reconciled to losing his No1 goalkeeper to the Premier League champions.
Chelsea are close to signing Asmir Begovic from Stoke City as a replacement for Petr Cech, who exited Stamford Bridge as soon as his contract allowed to join title hopefuls Arsenal.
Bosnian stopper Begovic will cost Chelsea £8million. A sweetener to the deal, which the Blues were trying to avoid sees midfielder Marco van Ginkel head to the Potteries for a season-long loan. The Dutchman, 22, was on loan at AC Milan
last term. Van Ginkel joined the Blues from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013.
Chelsea's first choice was QPR's Robert Green, but the stopper is believed to have preferred to play rather than sit on the bench for the majority of the season.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes has said: “As far as I'm aware Asmir will travel to Chelsea and that will be concluded.
“People are assuming that he is going as a back-up but I know, having worked with Asmir, that he will back his own ability. He will think he can challenge Thibaut Courtois and get game time else he wouldn't have gone there."
