Chelsea's Claude Makelele is convinced that Chelsea can become bigger than his old club Real Madrid, and that it could well be this season!
Makelele, who joined from Real Madrid 30 minutes before the Spanish transfer window closed, believes, "Chelsea will play more as a unit. Madrid base their team around certain players."
In a side full of superstars, the forgotten man at the back was Claude Makelele. Some believed he wasn't appreicated, although this seems not to as true as you may believe. Zinedine Zidane spoke at how Claude allowed him to be free and play his own game, something Zidane will now have to alter. Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera described him as "indispensable". "The club can try and replace him but they won't find anyone as good. When Claude did not play in important games last year, we definetly missed him."
Makelele took Roman Abromavich's spending to over £100 million on players alone, and then vowed yesterday that in January, Claudio Ranieri will have another £100 million at his disposal !!
