Blues Target Tiago

Portugese fever is clearly hitting Chelsea this summer, with Jose Mourinho already recruited as new boss, and Porto right back Paolo Ferreira on his way after Euro 2004. And now Benfica midfielder Tiago is on our shortlist.

Peter Kenyon said: "In the position he plays Tiago has been identified as one of three possible solutions to Chelsea's needs.

"Tiago is one of three possibilities."

Tiago is considered one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Portugal, and also has a knack of coming up with important goals. He is in the Portugal squad for Euro 2004, but has yet to play a game.

And at the age of 23, Tiago clearly has time on his side- if he does sign, it could spell the end of Claude Makelele's time at the club...
