Chelsea TV have announced that Carlo Cudicini has put pen to paper and signed a new 5 year contract. Carlo, meeting with managing director Trevor Birch, happily signed the contract to quell any fears amongst Chelsea supporters that he may be tempted back to Italy.

Carlo clearly stated "it was an easy decision, since I came here 3 years ago it has been good for me. I like the club, I like the supporters, I like London".

Carlo signed originally on a years loan in 1999, and joined more permanently on a 3 year contract in 2000 for a fee of just £160,000. He is now potentially a Chelsea player until 2007.

Chelsea and it's supporters can now allay any fear of losing Carlo and can look forward to continued, outstanding performances from the young Italian. Trevor Birch stated that Chelsea felt Carlo was one of the best goalkeepers in the world and should really be in the international set-up. Carlo's outstanding displays last season have made him a strong contender for this years official "Player of the Year" award so surely an international call-up is now really just a matter of time.

If we can all see his brilliance and commitment why can't they? Still Carlo, we are pleased you have decided to stay………you are more than welcome!
