Carlo Ancelotti has closed the door on Chelsea signing Fernando Torres this summer, saying “We don’t need him”
Asked following Chelsea’s 1-0 over Crystal Palace this afternoon the Italian categorically slammed the door on the Double winners signing the World Cup winning striker.
“Nothing has changed from when I said before we did not need another striker.
“I have Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge, we don’t need any more strikers.”
Ancelotti also has coming back from the World Cup his two main strikers Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.
Before Ancelotti had a chance to elaborate, a Chelsea spokesman piped up that: “the club did not comment on speculation”.
Now that might be what Ancelotti believes to be the case, but it’s the opinion of the football board that ultimately counts so until Torres states he does not want to come to Chelsea or signs for someone else or a new contract with Liverpool, Chelsea fans can continue to believe that the Blues might yet see Torres in Chelsea colours sooner rather than later.
Ancelotti added: “I am happy with this squad – it won the Premier League and FA Cup last season.
“As for the Champions league, we will do our best – we do not need to change anything.”
