Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech was relieved that his under fire side are through to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup.
After the 2-0 win over Birmingham City at St Andrews, tonight, Cech said: “We had to fight. They have plenty of experience after playing (top level) UEFA matches this season.
“In the first half we were in same level as them, we fought like them.
“And in the second half we scored and should have got more, especially with the penalty we missed – so they were still alive.
“In the last 20 minutes they had a couple of chances.”
Speaking about the sacking of former manager Andre Villas-Boas at the weekend, Cech was somewhat cagy in his response.
He said: “The board and director took the decision and the players have to take it and move on. This is not the end and we have to move on.
“The players don’t have to prove anything but play well.”
