The second attempt at the Champions League last 16 draw has been completed underway after the original draw had to be declared void because of a 'technical problem'.
At the second attempt, it was a random draw with all the important caveats adhered to.
Each seeded group winner was paired against an unseeded group runner-up, while country protection also remains in place at this stage. Clubs who have already faced each other in the group stage were also be kept apart in this round.

Heading into 2022, last 16 first leg ties will be split across consecutive weeks on either 15/16 February or 22/23 February. The return legs will follow on 8/9 March or 15/16 March. The seeded clubs, drawn second, will also have the added advantage of playing last 16 second leg ties at home.
This is the first season in which the away goals rule has been scrapped, so extra-time is guaranteed if an aggregate score-line is level at the end of the second leg.
