The silly season truly is upon us, but some journalists are sillier and more dangerous than most.
Not content with just giving her perverse opinion about Chelsea's non-footballing antics, Sue Mott of the Daily Telegraph considers that English football would be better off if Roman Abramovich was not just unwell, but dead.
This shocking piece of sloppy journalism would be self-censored by even the worst kind of fanzine editor.
But to find it enblazoned on a national newspaper is indeed worrying.
What if some deranged Telegraph reader took it upon him/herself to attempt to do in the Chelsea owner?
What would we make of her defence? "It was the Telegraph, M'lud. They told me it would make the world a better place."
One can of course to the decent thing and email a letter to the paper protesting about the outrageous language and sentiment she expressed.
