Ake is expected to provide competition for Marcos Alonso at left wing-back, but the versatile Dutchman can also play in midfield and central defence.
"Nathan Ake has been recalled from his loan spell at Bournemouth," said a statement on Chelsea's website.
"The 21-year-old Dutchman made 12 appearances for the Cherries and scored three goals, including a last-minute winner against Liverpool in December."
