Chelsea do have players to offer as part of the deal and it remains to be seen if Everton will ask for or take any in return - the likes of Ross Barkley, Billy Gilmour, Michy Batshuayi and Trevoh Chalobah have all linked with a move to Merseyside.
Thomas Tuchel's side are hoping to complete a move for Gordon sooner rather than later, as they also look to finalise deals for Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the coming days.
