Chelsea say no to Inter for Lamps

Last updated : 08 July 2008 By Paul Lagan
Chelsea have rejected an approach by Inter Milan for Frank Lampard.
The club have said that they will not enter into any discussions regarding the transfer of Ferank Lampard.
They did confirm that they recieved an official approach from Inter about the transfer of Lamps but no financial offer was made.
So good for Chelsea - now they have the choice of not offering a new contract for Lamps, in which case, since he is in the last year of his deal, he will, in January be able to talk to any club he wishes with a view to leaving in the summer on a free transfer.
Chelsea can of course opt to extend his contract and if they do then Lamps will be looking to get a four-year-deal at £140k a week.
Is he worth it?
From Lamps's point of view he can either, buy out his contract with Chelsea, hang on for another year and leave on a free, demand a transfer or accept the offer, if one comes, from Chelsea on their terms.
