Chelsea star Ramires to miss Genk clash

Chelsea midfielder Ramires has been ruled out of Wednesday's Champions League clash against Genk after suffering a knee injury.

Ramires was forced to come off midway through the second half of Saturday's 3-1 win over Everton and Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas revealed on Tuesday that he hadn't recovered in time to face the Belgian club at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian, who has been in fine form recently and scored against Everton, is also rated as only 50-50 for Sunday's west London derby against QPR, with Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles likely to take his place in the team for both matches.

"Ramires will be out of this game and for the game on Sunday he is a doubt," Villas-Boas said. "Because it is four days until the QPR game there might be a 50 percent chance he makes it."

Chelsea are top of their Champions League group with four points from their first two matches and are expected to maintain that lead against the Belgian champions.
