Chelsea transfer round-up

Last updated : 31 August 2016 By Paul Lagan

While Chelsea has signed David Luiz for £2million and that three-year deal is now confirmed, the Blues have been busy farming out lesser players while bringing in another left-back.

Chelsea sold Brazilian Luiz to the PSG for £50million in 2014 after 88 appearances, and six goals after the bought him from Benfica in 2011.

Also in today is left-back Marcos Alonso from Italian side Fiorentina.
The 25-year-old Spanish left-back has penned a five-year contract.

Alonso said: “I’m very happy. It’s a step up in my career and I think this is the perfect place for me to continue developing. It’s time for me to win some titles.

“It was an easy decision for me to make when I heard the club were interested in signing me. My family and close friends know Chelsea is the club I have dreamed about playing for so I’m really excited about the challenge and I’m looking forward to working with my new team-mates.”
Alonso will provide much-needed competition for Cesar Azpilicueta who, as a right-back has been playing at left back.
The Blues have already farmed out £18million signing Baba Rahman to German outfit Schalke on a season-long deal and of course let Champions League winner Ryan Bertrand move out of Bridge to Southampton – he then went on to play for England.

On the way out – again is Juan Cuadrado, who is returning to Juventus with a new three-year loan deal. It’s highly unlikely we will ever see the Colombian wide man ply his trade again at Stamford Bridge.

Patrick Bamford has headed up north to Burnley until the end of the season.

Kenedy has gone to Watford until the end of the season, Loic Remy, of course has gone to Crystal Palace for the rest of the season and Christian Atsu has gone to Newcastle on loan but with an option to buy the speed merchant.

Lucs Piazon, 22, has popped along the Fulham Road and joined Fulham on loan.

Minor player moves include defender Jake Clarke-Salter and midfielder Charlie Colkett who join League One outfit Bristol Rovers on loan.
Also out on loan are defender Dion Conroy to Aldershot Town of the National League;
Goalkeeper Nathan Baxter to Ryman Premier Division side Met Police; Islam Feruz has gone on a season-long loan to Belgian side Royal Mouscron, and Cristian Cuevas re-joined Belgian side Sint-Truidense.
