Eni Aluko was taken to hospital after suffering an injury to her head during yesterday’s 8-0 thrashing of Yeovil Town in the Continental Tyres Cup clash at Kingsmeadow.
Winger Aluko crashed into an advertising board and needed 11 minutes of pitch-side treatment before being taken to nearby Kingston hospital.
A Chelsea spokeswoman confirmed this morning that Aluko was released from hospital and feeling much better.
Aluko tweeted: ‘Woke up with just a sore head after a Saturday night out....on the pitch.
”Thankful & grateful its not a serious head injury. I'm okay now, thank you for your messages & huge thanks to our medical team. Great 8-0 win.”
Chelsea Ladies boss Emma Hayes was concerned for her player.
Speaking straight after the rout of the West Country side, she said: “Eni has gone to hospital - more of a precaution that anything else, she hit her head on the advertising board. There is a concrete slab behind. It was a hard impact on the left side of her temple.
“We don’t think she is concussed. And we think she is okay. She has gone to hospital to have a few tests because there is a lot of pain in that area.” Claire Rafferty
