Clarke shuts up detractors

Steve Clarke hit out at Fergie and Wenger who claimed that Chelsea would wobble over the festive period.
"The managers of the chasing sides felt that Chelsea would drop points over Christmas.
"Most people outside this football club felt we would drop points, but we have won 12 out of 12 and done very well," said Chelsea’s Assistant manager who was in his normal pragmatic self when he was wheeled in for the post-match press conference in place of boss José Mourinho.

“ It was good night for us,” said the understating Scotsman.

“We don’t worry about what other teams do, we set out our stall to get 12 points from these four games and that’s just what we have done.

“ It was important to start the game well as we did not want to be chasing it.”

When asked about the bizarre events at Old Trafford when a Spurs goal was not given, Clarke admitted he did not see it on TV: “But our players saw it and were screaming for it to be given,” he added.

The Blues are not being drawn on title comments just yet.

“We haven’t spoken about the title,” reminded Clarke.

“We are out in front and enjoying it, Tonight we could have scored five or six.

“The only thing that matters is to be in front in May.

"We are not under pressure, we know just what we have to do."
