Steve Clarke's future with Chelsea is in serious doubt.
The Chelsea legend who has a 21-year association with the Stamford Bridge outfit could find himself part of the senior management cull ahead of Luiz Felipe Scolari's move to Chelsea on July 1.
Clarke was promoted from the youth management ranks by Jose Mourinho and has so far survived the sackings of Mourinho, Avram Grant and coach Henk ten Cate.
Chelsea are believed to be seeking a coach who will assist Scolari whose English is very limited.
Top of their list is Coventry City's assistant coach Steve Kean who is fluent in Portugesue following a five-year stint in the country at FC Coimbra.
Kean is quoted as saying: "There was contact made by someone on behalf of Mr Scolari, and I let our chairman and Chris Coleman know straight away.
"It probably makes sense, because I can speak Portuguese, but I don't want to say to much without getting anyone into trouble," he added.
The trouble is Steve, the cat is out of the bag and Clarke is possibly the man who will be ousted.
Clarke was spotted leaving Stamford Bridge in what appeared to be a huff two weeks ago.
Chelsea head off to a pre-season tour of China and Russia before returning to England and starting their Premier League campaign with a home game against FA Cup holders Portsmouth on August 11.
Whether Clarke is still on the Chelsea payroll is another thing.
