According to reports, Roma star and Italian World Cup winner Daniele De Rossi has turned down the chance to move to England and is ready to sign a new deal with Roma.
Manchester City and Chelsea had both been chasing De Rossi, with Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas wanting to bring him in because of doubts over Michael Essiens long term fitness. Roberto Mancini has also been an admirer of his fellow countryman, having decided that De Rossi would be worth every penny of a 20million pound transfer fee. The Italian feels he would have been bringing in a player that will add experience and assurance to his midfield.
De Rossi has since reportedly confirmed that it is his intention to commit his long term future to his boyhood club Roma and spend the rest of his career in Rome.
