Declan Rice is said to be 'unhappy' that West Ham have priced him out of a potential transfer this summer, with the club's valuation of him understood to be £100m.
The 22-year-old's has long been a target for Chelsea and Manchester United, while Manchester City
have also been tipped to make a bid when the time comes for him to leave the London Stadium.
Rice's commanding displays for England at Euro 2020 earned plenty of admirers, and fuelled rumours that a move away from West Ham was a matter of when and not if.
In order to ward off potential suitors, West Ham have valued Rice at £100m - a fee that City have recently paid for Jack Grealish, a new British transfer record.
The Telegraph note that Rice is 'unhappy' with the Hammers' valuation, which he deems to be excessively high. The same publication have previously stated that he's turned down two new contract offers, and has no interest in renewing his deal at the London Stadium.
Rice is contracted to West Ham for another three years, and there's no suggestion that he will down tools in order to force a move away from the club. But he does harbour ambitions of playing Champions League football, and it's said that the summer he spent with England - among many players who play for 'big six' clubs - has convinced him that he needs a move to advance his career.
West Ham will play in this season's Europa League after sealing a surprise top-six finish last time out, but their lack of ambition in the transfer window will do little to convince Rice that staying is in his long-term interests.
The club's £100m price tag is notably higher than the £97.5m which Chelsea recently parted with to sign Romelu Lukaku, and realistically there's only a handful of clubs who could ever consider paying a nine-figure sum for a player.
Rice showed on the opening day of this season - a 4-2 win for West Ham over Newcastle - how good he can be, and United, Chelsea and City will likely watch on closely as he attempts to help the Hammers navigate their way through the Europa League group stages for the first time.
