Duffski Signs For Chelsea!

Last updated : 21 July 2003 By Rich Godden
Duff becomes the fourth player to join the club since the Abramovich takeover, taking his spending to £37million. That amount is almost certain to increase, with Claudio Ranieri desperate to sign a central midfielder. Juan Seba Veron fits the bill, but can he be convinced to join the Russian revolution? And will Fergie part with his Argentinian enigma after failing to land Ronaldinho?

But enough of that, here's what Duff had to say in an exclusive interview on Chelsea TV, "This was probably the biggest decision of my life and I didn't want to rush it.

"It was just a matter of thinking everything through. I had seven great years at Blackburn and there was no big reason to move but in the end I decided a big new challenge was necessary."

And it certainly is a big new challenge. Duff, presuming we win through a qualifier, will be testing himself against the cream of Europe on a regular basis in the Champions League.

Will he prove to be a good signing though? Can he make the difference for us this season? Talk about all this and more on the Chelsea-Mad messageboard.
