Emma Hayes inducted into WSL Hall of Fame

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is the fourth person to be inducted into the Women's Super League Hall of Fame.

She joins England legends Kelly Smith, Rachel Yankey and Fara Williams as the first football figures to be honoured.

Hayes has set the standard for women's coaching in England in recent years, leading Chelsea to four WSL titles and two FA Cups since 2015. She also led the Blues to the Champions League final last season, only to be soundly beaten 4-0 by an impressive Barcelona side.

Hayes joined the club in 2012, following spells in America and as Arsenal assistant manager under Laura Harvey. No WSL manager in history has enjoyed more wins and she shows little sign of letting up anytime soon.

Speaking after her nomination was announced on Thursday, Hayes revealed her delight at being recognised for her work over the years.

"I’m honoured and surprised," Hayes told Sky Sports (via the club's official website). "I think only when my careers done, will I really reflect on what we’ve achieved. While I’m in it, I’m always trying to find an edge every day.

"My goal has always been about what I leave behind. That’s what I’ve worked for, that when I go, I’ve laid good foundations built to last a long time.

Hayes added: "A big motivator for me, that young men, young boys like my son grow up where they see women, in positions I’m in and that’s just the norm for them."

Under Hayes' guidance, Chelsea have made a mixed start to the season. The Blues lost their WSL opener to Arsenal, though they have bounced back with three straight victories since.

The feel-good factor was slightly diminished by a 3-3 Champions League draw with Wolfsburg, in which Chelsea gifted their opponents all three goals.
