Jose Mourinho's increased power base at Stamford Bridge is believed, according to reports, to have resulted in popular club doctor Eva Carneiro being effectively banned from the next first team match and a place on the dugout.
She and a club physic treated Eden Hazard near the end of Saturday's match against Swansea City when the Blues were already down to 10 men following the dismissal of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Mourinho blasted the medical pair after the game because the treatment of the midfielder meant Chelsea would be reduced to nine men, since Hazard would be forced to leave the field following treatment.
This left Chelsea open, according to Mourinho to a counter-attack and the inability to launch an effective attack themselves. He felt that Hazard did not require treatment - something his zero years as a medical doctor gave him the right to decide.
Chelsea would not comment on the future status of Carneiro but it's believed she will work this week from the Cobham training complex instead and not travel with the first team.
It's not known how long the ban will be for, but she is set to miss Sunday's clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Carneiro is popular figure among Chelsea fans and many will be bemused and disappointed by Mourinho's handling of the situation.
