Fernando Torres message to new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho

Spain?s Fernando Torres had a torrid game against minnows Tahiti in the Confederations Cup group match as he found the net four times on a night when his team broke double digits in scoring. The Chelsea striker could have had more but showed great confidence in converting chances on offer and even a missed penalty could not deter his mood as he and his teammates thrashed their opponents with considerable ease.

While his form at Stamford Bridge has been subject to a fair share of criticism and consistent frustration ever since his arrival from Anfield, Torres was persisted with by Del Bosque. The Spanish team boss stated that Torres? form with Chelsea towards the end of the domestic league forced his selection into the national squad. And boy, it is doing a world of good for the much maligned star!

With Jose Mourinho set to embark on the mission to revive the Blues? fortunes, the Spaniard?s performances with the national team will certainly play a big role in determining his future at the club. The Special One has also recently reiterated his desire to include Torres in his plans for next season and help him rediscover his old form, glimpses of which continue to appear but still not convincing enough to merit a place in the first team. If Torres? hot streak continues throughout the Confederations Cup, he would surely wriggle his way into Mourinho?s plans for Chelsea ? something he desperately needs after prolonged turbulence in London.

With Chelsea?s burgeoning young talent, Torres will no doubt face a stiff challenge for playing time. But the player?s willingness to prove himself and his desire to impress the ever-demanding Mourinho might just help him reignite his career.

As an exciting new season beckons, Torres? future in the League could be determined in the early days under his new coach and only goals could save his much-promised career both with club and country.
