Gary Neville has offered his verdict on the performance of Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier his his side's lacklustre 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
The Ivorian was at fault for the first goal, heading a simple cross-field pass needlessly out of play for a corner after getting caught under the long ball.
Immediately afterwards, Aurier failed to close Willian down quickly enough from the set piece, allowing the Brazillian to cut inside and put the Blues in front.
It was the start of a difficult afternoon for Spurs as they eventually lost 2-0, and speaking as part of Sky Sports' coverage of the game, Neville stated that new manager Jose Mourinho would have been disappointed in the former PSG man.
“He lacks concentration. He’s turning around looking over his right shoulder, not even watching the play,” Neville said as quoted in HITC.
“He then sets off late and doesn’t sprint. Willian skips inside him and it’s a brilliant finish, but it was poor and Jose Mourinho will be furious.”
Aurier has been shown a surprising amount of trust by the former Manchester United manager who has picked him in all but one of the games since he took over.
The 26 year-old has improved in a more attacking role, but it's expected that Mourinho will look to bring in a new right-back in January.
It is a position where Spurs have struggled this season due to the poor performances of Kyle Walker-Peters and the decision to sell Kieran Trippier to Atlético Madrid over the summer.
It had looked as though they were recovering from their poor start to the season despite their defensive
But Sunday's defeat will have dealt a significant blow to their hopes of claiming a top four place, as they now sit six points behind fourth placed Chelsea in seventh.
They will also be without Son Heung-min during a busy Christmas schedule after the South Korean was sent off for kicking out at Antonio Rudiger.
