Chelsea lose their communications chief on Friday as Simon Greenberg bids farewell to SW6.
Greenberg, as exclusivley revealed on Chelsea-Mad handed in his notice almost as soon as the ink had dried on chief executive Peter Kenyon's own resignation.
Keen swimmer Greenberg has been saying his goodbyes all week and moves out of his Stamford Bridge office and heads off into the cold, autumnal night. with as yet, no job to go to.
Greenberg's job as communications director is being made redundant and thus no one will be stepping into the role at director level.
However current top media man Steve Atkins is expected to be promoted to chief communications but have curtailed responsibilities.
It's believed that managing director of Chelsea's digital media team Cas Knight and Emma Wilkinson, head of media, were also keen on the position and interviewed for the newly-created role.
But such has been Atkins's impressive performance since his arrival at SW6 two seasons ago, that he has been given the nod over the other two.
A new , as yet undisclosed title will be given to Atkins who will be keen to set up his office at Chelsea's Cobham training ground rather that at Stamford Bridge but might find this option denied him by new chief executive Ron Gourley.
