Apparently Chelsea have signed midfielder Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow for £25m but the club have not even bothered to inform their fans.
Russian newspaper Tvoi Den quotes Zhirkov's agent as saying: "Yuri has signed the contract with Chelsea just a day or two ago.
"He will join his new team this summer."
Well that's nice then.
I dunno about you but it irks when other sources report these things before the club does.
It's like the move for Carlos Ancelotti - now everyone, except Chelsea, are saying the AC Milan boss is going to be the new Chelsea manager.
But what do we get from the club - nothing.
I reckon the only reason they are not saying anything is that there is still the matter of the FA Cup Final tomorrow and they feel that any announcement of manager or new player will somehow throw all their plans out the window.
Perhaps they think Guus Hiddink will not prepare the team or that the players will not give their best or some other such nonsense.
Football is now a 24-hour business. Chelsea trying to keep news from their fans is like trying to hold back the tide - it just ain't going to happen.
Chelsea's top brass should just engage with their fans in the same way that fans engage with each other all the time.
You can have have all the Twitter/YouTube links you like, but it's the content you put on it that gives it creditbility.
When you find out news from Chelsea-mad or others and not from the club, that's good for Chelsea-mad but it would be nice for Chelsea to move into the 21st century too.
The team can play like world-beaters, now it's the time for the rest of the club to catch up.
