Chelsea's inability to tempt Asmir Begovic from Stoke City has meant that they have extended Henrique Hilarios's stay at SW6.
The Blues were looking to bring in the Stoke stopper in the summer but that deal had failed to bear fruit. However, the Blues are expected to continue their interest in the Bosian shot-stopper.
Hilario, 35, has penned a one-year extension to his current contract which had two weeks to run.
Had Chelsea not signed him for another term, the Blues had the prospect of having only first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech ready for pre-season training and the new campaign. Yeah, I know Ross Turnbull is still around, but you know what I mean!
Hilario has played just 33 times in five years for the Blues.
