Injuries crisis for Blues

Last updated : 02 October 2008 By Paul Lagan

Chelsea face digging deep into their squad this weekend as they suffer one of their worst ever periods of injuries.

The Blues take on Aston Villa at the Bridge on Sunday without many key players.
Already out are Richardo Carvalho, Michael Essien, Deco, and Joe Cole.
Namesake ashley missed last-nights dull 0-0 draw against CFR Cluj with a back problem and is also a doubt for the Premier league clash.
But it's the sight of Didier Drogba being carried off the pitch that will worry most Blues fans.
He injured his knee and looks set for another long period out of the game.
He had only just returned from a lay-off.
John Terry and Alex are battling to be fit for Sunday, so it's no exaggeration to say the boys are in crisis.
Drogba will have a scan on his knee later today, while Terry and Alex will be assessed by the club's medical team.
