Chelsea's desire to bring in a left-back intensified this morning with the announcement that Kakha Kaladze's father says his son will join the Blues next week.
The 27-year-old Georgia international joined Milan from Dynamo Kiev in 2001, but struggled for regular first-team football last season.
"After Saturday's qualifier against Albania, Kakha will fly to London to sign a contract with Chelsea," said Karlo Kaladze.
"Everything has been agreed, it's just a matter of signing a contract."
Kaladze found himself on the bench for much of the season after Jaap Stam's arrival as a centre-back saw Paolo Maldini return to his previous role at left-back.
"I did not have the space I was hoping to have this season and it's time for me to move," Kaladze said last week
"It appears that I will play for Chelsea next season."
