Carlo Ancelotti praised Joe Cole to the hilt calling the midfielder a "genius" while Sam Allardyce labelled his side "pathetic".
Both were correct. Chelsea dismantled Blackburn Rovers to the tune of 5-0.
"I was very impressed by how well Joe worked in his rehabilitation," said Ancelotti.
"it's not easy to play like he did after eight months out of action.
"He has fantastic qualities - he is a genius.
"Chelsea played very well and Blackburn did what they could do," added the Italian.
After the defeat against Aston villa, we had a solution to our set-piece problems - we improved very quickly.
"I think it was our best performance since I became manager."
Talking about the Liverpool - Manchester United clash later today, Ancelotti nailed his colours to the mast: "For one day only I am a Liverpool supporter," he joked.
Ancelotti then revealed that he will be heading back home to his ill father in Italy today and return tomorrow.
"It's difficult days," said Ancelotti.
"But after tomorrow, I hope he will be better."
"Pathetic," chimed Sam Allardyce when asked what he thought of his team's capitulation.
"The second half was pathetic.
"We frustrated them in the first half - they scored through an own goal. "Our defence was looking solid.
"I told them at half time they had to produce in the final third, but it went pathetically wrong when they got the second goal.
"There was a lack of understanding about what they should have done - we should have made it more difficult for them, instead we made it easier."
Allardyce explained that a number of players had gone down with a virus but added; It's about the whole team being resistant on the field.
I can't understand why they threw the game plan out the window.
