With Poppy-gate having arrived a suitable conclusion, focus has switched back to the England captain ahead of the weekend clash with Spain at Wembley.
Par for the course: John Terry enjoyed a round of golf after a hard day training
In toe: Theo Walcott was also out in the Hertfordshire countryside
Fabio Capello's squad trained in public today for the first time, with the skipper shielded from the media glare and likely defensive partner Jones instead? fielding questions.
Terry is the subject of FA and police investigations after it was claimed he racially abused QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during last month's Premier League defeat suffered by Chelsea at Loftus Road.
Keeping an eye on his team: Fabio Capello joined some of his squad
Keeping up the Jones: Terry found a partner in Manchester United's Phil Jones
So it is no wonder the man at the centre of the storm wants to get away from it all. And he chose The Grove's lush green golf course in leafy Hertfordshire, just north of London.
Terry was joined by a host of other members of the squad, including Jones, Joe Hart, Theo Walcott, Gareth Barry and even the manager for a round in fairly reasonable conditions.
Driving on: Terry's shrugged off the issue, and initially welcomed the investigation
Also on course was Phil Jagielka, the man many expected to replace Terry in the starting line-up against the world champions.
However the Everton man has a hairline fracture to the foot and will be tested before the game. Should he lose his fitness battle, Terry will almost certainly play despite Capello earlier insisting that he would be rested.
Leading from the front: Terry appears to have the full backing of the squad
