Keane to help...

Chelsea manager Avram Grant continues to excite as much as his team by saying absolutely noting of any consequence.

The salient comments from his post-match press conference went like this: "We played well, our possession was 70 per cent - I'm happy.

"We have missed many top players this season and still won matches and we will do the same again with Drogba out.

I have not come here for an easy life.

"Drogba's operation went well. We will just have to wait and see."

Sunderland boss Roy Keane, as menacing off the pitch as on it at least was able to explain in an honest and obligating way.

"The penalty changed the game for us," he rued.

"At 1-0 we were in with a chance. At 2-0 the game was over. I have not seen the penalty but when you come to places like Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool and you have players coming together, it's not a surprise to get results going against you.

"But there was some good stuff from us and it was a tough game.

As for Liam Miller's sending off, Keane was somewhat pragmatic.

The ref should have stepped in five or six seconds earlier. He reacted to John Terry and Pizarro. But if you put your hands up to a face, then the ref has no option other than to send him off. But I'm disappointed by Terry and Pizarro's reaction."

Speaking of the future Keane said: "I want to bring players in in January, but identifying them and getting them is another matter.

"Shevchenko is a class player and showed today what he can do and I'd certainly like him in my squad.

"There are three leagues within the Premier league and we are in the bottom third.

"But our future won't be decided by the results against the top side, it will be against those around us in the league that really matter.

"It was vital we did not concede earlier against Chelsea and we didn't but I think Chelsea never got out of first gear, if I'm to be honest."
