Lampard - Faith In Jimmy And Eidur Partnership

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has warned that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen will soon find the “fire” that lit up the Premiership last season.

It has been said that both Jimmy and Eidur have committed themselves to the club despite intense speculation to the contrary, but as of yet, neither of them have managed to score a domestic goal this season.

With the ever youthful Zola enjoying a rich vein of form – his two goals at

Blackburn in midweek now taking his tally to four for the season – the “little wizard” could now do with some back-up in front of goal, especially with Chelsea looking for their first home win of the season against Newcastle tomorrow (Saturday).

Speaking on ChelseaTV Lampard said, “Franco has been playing so well. Jimmy and Eidur were the best partnership last season but they are not yet on top form as they had some problems in pre-season.

“When they start to fire properly, and they will do, it will be even better for us. They have both played well in parts so far this season but I’m sure there is even more to come from them.”

Lampard himself has scored twice this season, but it is uncertain as to who will partner Frank in central midfield come Saturday afternoon. Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri must decide whether to recall Petit to the starting line-up, but Petit, who has missed the last three games with an ankle injury, is now in contention with Jody Morris and Enrique De Lucas for the central midfield position.

Claudio certainly has a number of decisions to make prior to tomorrows game.
