He told Chelsea TV: I didn't have any doubts about re-signing because ever since I came here I've enjoyed playing at Stamford Bridge. The relationship with the fans has been fantastic and I didn't want to go anywhere else.
"I'm a London boy and I wanted to keep playing for Chelsea. To play here for the rest of my career would make me a happy man. It's a great feeling to be tied down, not to have it mentioned anymore. I can concentrate on football and concentrate on being successful.
"I'd like to think that hopefully these years will be the best of my career. I'm generally fit and I hope to stay as fit as I can for as long as possible. Hopefully in the next five years I'll show the best of what I've got.
"I think we can achieve what we want to achieve. We've got the manager in place who the players are very happy with now, we've got the players, the camaraderie between the lads, and it's just a question of going out there and doing it."
