Marcel Desailly has called off his farewell match that should have taken place on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.
Citing that old standard excuse fixture congestion around this time and logistical issues, Marcel has apologised to those people who had shelled out their hard-earned cash.
He did send out a letter of apology, not directly to those who bought tickets but via Chelsea's official propaganda machine chelseapravda.com.
The apology read:
'It is with a heavy heart that I write to you to apologise for the cancellation of my Farewell Match at Stamford Bridge on October 10th 2007.
Marcel calls off farewell match
'I was looking forward so much to seeing you all and raising funds for a worthy cause. I was proud and honoured that so many of you bought tickets for the game.
'Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, we have had to postpone the game till next year.
'Chelsea and I will keep you posted on developments and I promise you that when we finally meet, I will put on a show for you to remember.
'My apologies once again,' said Desailly.
We are hoping to rearrange the match next year for a time when there is a clearer window in the global football calendar.
Everybody concerned apologises for the inconvenience caused to fans and all tickets will be refunded.
