After the gaffe by the English premier league website in prematurely reporting Mourinho?s arrival at Chelsea, the Special One?s much anticipated arrival at Stamford Bridge has now become official (again) as Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed the same while the London club is poised to reveal the news to the press today.
On the eve of his departure from Spain, Mourinho, in a candid interview with Jornal De Noticias, stated that he wants to win yet more titles as a coach while at the same time accepting the fact that losing is a part and parcel of professional life as a football coach. He was his usual blunt self in expressing his opinions to De Noticias as he also admitted that he needs to become a role model for younger coaches who increasingly look up to him now. With Sir Alex?s 26 year reign at Old Trafford coming to an end, Mourinho has also stated that the Scot?s achievement makes him look much younger!
Mourinho also defended his poor record at Real Madrid over the last 3 years by stating that his prior achievements in other countries are a hard and fast fact to his abilities as a manager and he may also have taken a dig at the policies of Real when he said that the values in the sport are lost as education and professionalism continue to decline. He might have been directly referring to the statements of former Madrid president Ramon Calderon who went on to criticize the Special One by labeling him a failure at the club while terming his behaviour unacceptable and that the club will breathe a sigh of relief over his departure ? scathing words no doubt against a man of Mourinho?s stature.
Current president Perez has also questioned Mourinho?s ability to handle the immense pressure of being the boss of the Los Blancos where every action is intensely scrutinized by the Spanish media and an ever present supremacy struggle exists between the Madrid club and Barcelona, the Catalan club.
Mourinho?s homecoming to Chelsea would go down fondly with the Chelsea faithful who might instantly forgive and forget Roman Abramovich?s controversial and unpopular actions in the past. With the Special One?s arrival at the club, the Premier League?s appeal would also be considerably spiced up and one can?t wait long for the action to kick off from August!
