However, Mutu insists he is ready if called upon. He told Chelsea TV "I'm very happy to be here and I can't wait to get started. Physically, I am ready to play at Liverpool but whether I am selected is obviously down to the manager," he said.
"I did three weeks with Parma at their training camp and I'm feeling physically very good as I've played three pre-season games."
He laso revealed why he chose to come to England instead of staying in Serie A with one of the big boys: "I have come to Chelsea because they are a big club and obviously there has been a big investment by the new owner, and a lot of great champions.
"I want to learn from them as a young player. I know Dan Petrescu very well and he spoke very highly of Chelsea to me."
Mutu was also voted as Serie A player of the year last season, as well as being elected Parma captain by his fellow teammates: "I was very honoured to receive that as I know there are many very good overseas players in Italian football. I hope to do just as well here at Chelsea."
