However, should it be found that Chelsea were within their rights to sack him we can hold his registration until his contract would've expired.
The fact we no longer play or pay him is irrelevant!
That would mean, hopefully, a transfer fee of some sort coming into the Bridge for us to release the registration.
A senior Chelsea source said: "Our position hasn't changed one iota. We definitely feel we deserve some compensation from the player or his new club. You don't just wave goodbye to a £13m asset and say so be it."
