Olivier Giroud & Arkadiusz Milik Among Inter's January Targets

Last season's Serie A runners-up Inter have reportedly identified Chelsea's Olivier Giroud and fellow striker Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli as two of their targets for the upcoming January transfer window.

In his maiden season as the club's manager, Antonio Conte steered Inter to their highest league finish since 2011 but was unable to end the club's wait for a trophy stretching back to the same year, finishing one point behind Juventus and losing the Europa League final to Sevilla.

The recent injury to top scorer Romelu Lukaku, coupled with Alexis Sanchez's absence, has highlighted the relative dearth of options for Conte up front.

In the pair's place, Inter have been forced to field Ivan Perisic - a natural wide attacker who started in five of the club's first six games as the left-sided wing-back - alongside Lukaku's regular partner in crime from last season, Lautaro Martinez.

Inter were on the verge of finalising a transfer for Giroud in the previous January window only for the deal to fall flat. A year on and their shopping list has scarcely changed according to the Italian publication Tuttosport.

Despite signing a one-year contract extension last May, Giroud has been afforded just one start by Frank Lampard across all competitions so far this season - Chelsea's ultimately unsuccessful fourth round Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham in September.

While Inter's primary goal in the winter market revolves around bolstering their attack, the Nerazzurri are also thought to be keen on another underused striker in the form of Napoli's Milik. The 26-year-old Polish forward is in the final year of his contract with the Neapolitans and, having rebuffed several extension offers, is yet to make a single appearance this season.

Inter are also supposedly interested in two of Chelsea's left-backs; Marcos Alonso, formerly of Fiorentina and the Brazil-born Italy international Emerson Palmieri. Both have been bumped down the pecking order following the arrival of Ben Chilwell in August.
