Daniel Sturridge nominated for Barclays sponsored PFA Young Player of the Year 2012

Sturridge started off impressively even before the 2011?12 season had begun, he scored a solo effort against Hong Kong club Kitchee SC and then scoring a brace against Scottish team Rangers impressing the Chelsea manager Andr? Villas-Boas during pre-season.

Having picked up a red card in the final game of the previous season, Sturridge was suspended for the first three competitive matches of the 2011?12 season. Upon his return from suspension, Sturridge started and scored with a back-heel in the 50th minute against Sunderland.

He scored again against Bolton, netting twice inside 30 minutes and supplying the assist to FrankLampard's goal in 15th minute.

Sturridge continued his scoring form with a goal against Everton on October 15th and giving him 4 goals in 4 games.

He continued this form in the Carling cup when he came on and scored in the 116th minute and helped Chelsea into the last 8.

He then claimed goals against Newcastle, Wigan and Tottenham Hotspur in the build up to Christmas and most recently claiming the 1st goal in Chelsea's 4-2 win over Aston Villa.
