Player Ratings: Arsenal (FA Cup)

Carlo Cudicini- Played today despite still suffering from a groin injury. Made several key saves but had absolutely no chance for Reyes' first. Substituted minutes later... 7

Mario Melchiot- Far too casual. Offered very little attacking wise and just wasn't up to it defensively. Also at fault for Reyes' second. 5

John Terry- Immense. One of only two players to show any real passion and had a great influence on the game. Just a shame he couldn't get his customary cup goal against the Gooners. 9

William Gallas- Assured performance alongside JT. Could have closed down Reyes quicker for the second goal though... His pace got us out of jail on several occasions though. 8

Wayne Bridge- Fairly solid defensively and offered a decent option in attack when he could get forward. His splendid first half cross deserved a better finish from Jimmy. 7

Jesper Gronkjaer- Looked threatening in attack and was very unlucky to have had a perfectly legitimate goal chalked off for offside. Seemed less effective after the break and was eventually replaced by Joe Cole. 7

Claude Makelele- Covered well in defence but, as usual, offered very little going forward when we needed men forward. Not one of his better days... 6

Frank Lampard- An off day for Lamps, when we needed him most. Lacked his usual range of passing and lost the midfield battle to Patrick Vieira, which ultimately cost us the game. 5

Scott Parker- Immense! Showed the sort of heart and spirit that put most of the team to shame. May not have been at his creative best but his physical game helped us through the first half and he got a good assist for the Mutu goal. Unfortunately, he got little help from his fellow midfielders, and his influence gradually waned. Still, top marks for this showing! 9

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink- Should have done better with his first half header but, other than that, he was anonymous. Was also lucky not to go for a ridiculous two footed lunge on Lauren. 5

Adrian Mutu- Wonderful goal! Just a shame that was virtually his only input to the game. 6

Subs

Neil Sullivan- Replaced Carlo after Reyes' first. Needed a solid hand to prevent Reyes' second and his kicking was woeful. I know Rennes didn't want to lose Cech this season, but surely a few million more could've swayed them... 4

Eidur Gudjohnsen- Had very little input after replacing Mutu. One good pass for Jimmy, nothing else! 5

Joe Cole- Replaced Jesper but did sweet FA! If I had wanted to see a clown, I would go to a child's birthday party... 5
