Player Ratings: CSKA Moscow (h)

Last updated : 21 October 2004 By Rich Godden
Petr Cech- Made a couple of good saves and one fantastic reaction save from point blank range. With performances like this, it's easy to see why Mourinho rates him so highly. 8

Paulo Ferreira- Bit of a nothing performance really. Most of CSKA's best attacks came down our right, which says a lot about Paulo's performance. 6

John Terry- Best player on the pitch! Took his goal superbly, could teach our shot shy strikers a thing or too. 9

William Gallas- Looks so comfortable alongside JT, and yesterday was not any different. Dealt with a couple of tricky situations with ease and generally looked as assured as ever. 8

Wayne Bridge- Sloppy showing from Bridgey, which is not something you can say often. Relinquished possesion far too easily at times and was nothing like his usual self. 6

Claude Makelele- Not at his best, but still controlled the game well. Passing was poor at times but overall his performance was just about enough. 7

Alexey Smertin- A pest as usual. Ran his socks off for the team, passed the ball around well and tackled with intent. Not much more he could do! 8

Frank Lampard- Aside from the odd decent shot, Lamps was far from his best. Sloppy in possesion and lacking bite in his tackling, Lamps is a shade of the player he was last season. 6

Damien Duff- Like the side as a whole, Duff was electrifying until it came to the final ball. But he spent long periods just waiting for the ball as the service to him was very poor. 7

Eidur Gudjohnsen- Took his goal well and linked up play like his usual self. Just doesn't seem to be clicking with Kez, something that needs to improve. 7

Mateja Kezman- Without decent service, Mateja is about as useful as ear plugs at Highbury! Runs his heart out for the cause but it is not enough... until he gets some good service he will continue to frustrate both fans and himself! 6
