That first game at a new club can be the most exciting and nerve-wracking time for a footballer. They might have finally gotten that big move to a team where they can take the next step, or perhaps their career has stalled and a move represents a chance for a fresh start.
Either way, sometimes the heat of the moment gets too much for certain debutants and referees are left with little option but to reach into their pockets.
Here are all of the players who managed to get sent off on their Premier League debut, starting with those who managed the most minutes and working our way down.

It was a fresh start for Joao Felix as he got ready to begin his six-month loan spell at Chelsea following a loan move from Atletico Madrid, a club where his influence had waned. The debut did not go to plan, however. A bad tackle at the start of the second half means he will miss three games through suspension, which costs Chelsea around £1.2m when his hefty loan fee is taken into account.
Everton have found themselves involved in two of the most interesting features from that list. Iain Turner's red card after just nine minutes against Blackburn in 2006 is the only one on the list where the team who lost a player still won the game. His was particularly embarrassing given he was sent off for picking up the ball outside of the penalty area when Alan Stubbs headed it back to him.
The Toffees were also the team who profited from the fastest debutant red card in Premier League history. Christian Negouai holds two unwanted titles in this regard. Not only was his red card the fastest, but he is also the only player to be sent off on their only Premier League appearance. His time at City was blighted by injuries.
In terms of the heaviest defeat inflicted with a player being sent off on their debut, that falls to Clint Hill. QPR were beaten 4-0 by Bolton when he was sent off, although he was not sent off until the 90th minute. Perhaps it would have been a much bigger defeat had he gone sooner.
