Premier League Team of the Week - Round 14

Aside from most of the same characters, Round 14 of the Premier League shared a number of parallels with Round 4.

Back in the halcyon days of early October, when the discussion of a fourth tier would have only been applied to an extravagant wedding cake, Liverpool's Premier League match saw one side score seven and Manchester United's fixture that same weekend witnessed a team rack up six.

Ten weeks on and the same could be said once more, but with the two giants of English football on the right side of the goal avalanche.

Here is 90min's team of the week, unsurprisingly dominated by these two behemoths.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - In a game which may prompt introspection from Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City's goalkeeper ensured the Foxes left north London with a clean sheet, notably producing an elastic save from Son Heung-min's point blank effort.

James Justin (RB) - No matter the role which needs filling, James Justin has proven adept in a myriad of positions stretching the width of the pitch for Leicester this term, turning out another impressive display in a 2-0 win against Spurs.

Thiago Silva (CB) - Chelsea's veteran defender rolled back the years with a towering header against West Ham to quash any lingering doubts after a slight wobble in recent weeks for Frank Lampard's boys in blue.

Tyrone Mings (CB) - Not too long ago, a clean sheet for Aston Villa was bound to the realms of fanciful optimism. Yet, Tyrone Mings presided over yet another shut out against West Bromwich Albion, Villa's third on the spin.

Andy Robertson (LB) - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may repeatedly lament the strain of the schedule put on his players, but Andy Robertson has scarcely shown any signs of fatigue despite playing every minute of the current campaign.

2. Midfielders

Jordan Henderson (CM) - Anchoring Liverpool's midfield didn't involve too much defensive work against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Henderson added a layer of authority and control to Klopp's side, along with a stunning strike.

Scott McTominay (CM) - Three minutes into Manchester United's enthralling clash with Leeds, the man of the match was already decided. Scott McTominay added an assist to his quick fire brace on a memorable evening for the 24-year-old.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - Another Manchester United win and another beguiling display from Bruno Fernandes. There is rarely one without the other but United's ultimate bellwether was just as pivotal off the ball, dragging Kalvin Phillips out wide on countless occasions to create yawning chasms which were ruthlessly exploited.

3. Forwards

Takumi Minamino (FW) - As Liverpool's number 18 passed up the chance to shoot first time in the opening stages against Crystal Palace, it looked as if he had squandered another opportunity to ignited his career on Merseyside. Fortunately, that sensation lasted less than a second. Minamino rifled in the game's opening goal in the same move before embarking upon easily his most impressive outing in red.

Roberto Firmino (FW) - The Brazilian's goal tally may never have been a concern for Klopp, but Firmino's all-round play had an exclamation mark slapped onto it with as many Premier League goals in three days as he mustered in his previous 27 outings in the competition.

Marcus Rashford (FW) - In a week when the nation was delivered yet another reminder of Marcus Rashford's off-field excellence, the Manchester United forward showed his qualities on the pitch.
